The project will focus on the following four research topics:
Analysis of behaviors for situated agents in the agricultural
domain. The objective is to establish the characteristics that will
allow long-term unattended operation.
Agent assessment and architecture comparison. The objective is to
introduce a measure function that allow us to compare and asses
various key aspects of architectures.
Safety, dependability and availability assessment. The objective
is to perform structural analysis of the framework and provide
guidelines for fault-tolerant functions.
Agent coordination. The objective is to work towards algorithms
and designs (based on hybrid systems theory) that enable multi-vehicle
coordination and action.
To facilitate dissemination of results, demonstration of the research
is also part of the effort. In this way the project represents an
essential step towards understanding and implementing an
architecture for situated agents in the agricultural domain. Several
robotic platforms adapted to the
agricultural domain are available.
